El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico LIVE in Los Angeles @ The Conga Room, Thursday, 1-27-11

Tropical music royalty and salsa sensation of a band, El Gran Combo de Puerto Rico takes the state at the historical Latin music venue, The Conga Room at L.A. Live. Located at 800 West Olympic Blvd in downtown Los Angeles, The Conga Room has been host to thousands of Latin music performers. And with the help of Tatiness Entertainment and NuthinLikeSalsa EntertainmentEl Gran Combo will be in the house on Thursday, January 27, 2011.

Credited as Puerto Rico’s most successful musical group and one of the most popular salsa orchestras in Latin America, the 13-piece band will perform both classics and new tunes for one night only.

Half a century of performances and even more albums and compilations make for perfection of their craft. With numerous hits and albums that include the classics “Ojos Chinos” (1964) and “Brujeria” (1982) as well as more recent favorites like the delicious “Arroz con Habichuela” (2006), El Gran Combo headed by director Rafael Ithier, has more than established its Tropical music reign. Continuously sold-out concerts and numerous awards that include the GRAMMY © for Best Tropical Album make the iconic orchestra the enduring superstars of the island and have earned them the well-deserved moniker ‘La Universidad de la Salsa’ - The University of Salsa.
